Don’t ignore me, Mom!

News No Comments »

A few weeks ago, Ethan was having an interesting time going to bed. He kept calling me for the littlest things or just calling… So after a few times going up the stairs, I decided to leave him to call me and let him eventually settle on his own.
After about 5 minutes of silence I hear Elowyn calling me this time, “Mom! Ethan’s irrastrating me, he’s trying to cuddle and I’m trying to sleep!” (irrastrating definition: irritating/frustrating)

So up I go to sort out Ethan so he stops “irrastrating” his sister. By this time, he’d scurried back to his room and was sitting on his bed. The first words that are said, “Don’t ignore me, Mom!”

Well said.

Well, Autumn is underway and we’re bidding a sad farewell to Summer. So we’re spending every moment we can outdoors and capturing the colour of Summer in our (humble) garden. There are a few striking colours from the beautiful flowers that have graced us with their presence ;)

Elowyn and Ethan played for ages as “Spiderman” and “Batman” saving the world from fires and floods. It was all too cute!

Enjoy the photos!

How birds “estimate” by Elowyn Hains

News 1 Comment »

So we were driving home yesterday from dropping Matt off at his drumming lesson when Elowyn spotted some birds under the railway bridge we had stopped under (at a set of traffic lights).  The next thing she exclaims, “Mom, those birds are estimating for another bird! Those two birds are estimating to make a bady bird!”

When she added “baby bird” I realised what she was saying and said as calmly and with out giggling, “Really, did you see the birds MATING?”
“Yes, Mom, the one bird jumped on top of the other one, they were estimating!”

It was all too much for me, I laughed all the way home, as quietly as possible.  My daughter has the “birds” of the “birds and the bees” sorted out… Now I’ll just get her to sit outside and look at her sunflower all day, that should sort the “bees” out.  So no “talk” for me when she’s older!!

You have to love them :)
